Make your own coffee bar!

Amanda Perry

DIY Flavored Syrups

These are made with less ingredients, so overall better for you, and tastier than Starbucks IMO. I love to use coconut sugar or maple syrup for my coffee syrup recipes because it helps reduce your refined sugar intake. But you can use most sugars for these recipes, including white sugar or raw cane sugar. Use these recipes to make your own at-home coffee bar! Both easy on the wallet and better for you!

Pumpkin Spice Coconut Sugar Simple Syrup

2 cups coconut sugar

1 cup water

1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice

  1. Bring 1 cup of water to a boil.

  2. Reduce to medium and add the 2 cups of coconut sugar.

  3. Stir to combine and add the tbsp of pumpkin pie spice.

  4. Stir frequently until the sugar is dissolved, about 3-5 minutes.

  5. Remove from the heat and let it cool completely.

  6. Store in a mason jar in the fridge for up to a couple months (though I'm sure it will go fast, mine does)!

  7. Enjoy in hot or iced coffee or espresso!

Gingerbread Coconut Sugar Simple Syrup

Gingerbread spice mix

It's easiest to make this first and store in a small mason jar. You will have enough to make a 2-3 more jars of this simple syrup!

1 tbsp + 1 tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp allspice

1 tbsp ground ginger

1.5 tsp nutmeg

1.5 tsp ground cloves

Gingerbread Simple Syrup

1 cup of water

2 cups of coconut sugar

1 tbsp of gingerbread spice mix

  1. Bring 1 cup of water to a boil.

  2. Add 2 cups of coconut sugar (or sugar of choice).

  3. Reduce to medium and add 1 heaping tablespoon of the spice mix.

  4. Stir until everything is dissolved and well-combined, just a few minutes.

  5. Remove from the heat and let it cool completely.

  6. Store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to a couple months!

Maple Vanilla Syrup

3/4 cup coconut sugar

1/2 cup maple syrup

1/2 cup water

1 tsp vanilla extract

  1. Bring 1/2 cup of water to a boil.

  2. Reduce to medium and add the 3/4 cup of coconut sugar and 1/2 cup of maple syrup.

  3. Stir frequently until the sugar is dissolved, about 3-5 minutes.

  4. Remove from the heat and stir in the teaspoon of vanilla extract. Let it cool completely.

  5. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a couple months.

  6. Enjoy in hot or iced coffee or espresso! My favorite is in an iced latte.

Mocha Syrup

1 cup strong brewed coffee

3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 cup cacao powder (added it for some nutrients, but you can easily just use 1 cup normal cocoa powder)

1 cup coconut sugar (or sugar of choice)

  1. Bring your coffee to a very warm temperature in a small pot on medium-medium high; you just want it to get pretty hot without boiling.

  2. Add your coconut sugar and cocoa/cacao powders.

  3. Stir until well combined and the sugar has dissolved, a couple minutes.

  4. Let cool and store in an airtight container in the fridge!

This recipe is not super sweet with the coconut sugar, but rather super rich. If you prefer your mocha syrup to be sweeter, use regular white sugar and the 1 cup of cocoa powder (no cacao powder).

Best ways to enjoy these coffee syrups

My all-time favorite way to enjoy these syrups is in a latte, hot or iced. Mostly iced though. That's truly how you can replace Starbucks with even better versions of their lattes! I know that espresso machines typically have a hefty price tag, but if you are a major coffee lover, it is totally worth the investment! Mine has definitely paid for itself as I barely feel the need to go to coffee shops. I linked the Breville Barista Pro along with a more budget-friendly option. Hint: Amazon let's you make payments on this beauty.

My other favorite way to enjoy these coffee syrups is with cold brew; either homemade or your favorite cold brew concentrate from the store. Simply mix together your desired amount of coffee, flavored syrup, and milk.

I have yet to perfect the homemade cold brew with my new carafe that is specifically designed to make cold brew, but I will be sure to share the recipe when I do! Making your own cold brew at home usually has a much richer coffee taste, whereas a lot of store-bought cold brews taste a little off to me.

As with everything, I LOVE a cute tag or label! So here is a free tag printable that includes a tag for all of these recipes! Just click the photo below. And click here if you want a one-page print-out of the recipes.

I love to hear what everyone thinks of these recipes, so try them out and let me know!!
